In the West Regional League, WSG Tirol 1c secured a point. The home team drew 2:2 with Hatting-Pettnau. Coach Florian Köll was satisfied. The game began in favor of the home team. From the clear plus in ball possession, WSG quickly gained control and was rewarded: In minute 16, Matteo Gassler scored the 1:0. "At the beginning, we had everything under control," explained Florian Köll later. Hatting-Pettnau responded, however. "The opponent unfortunately scored the equalizer from small mistakes," so Köll – this fell in the 31st minute through Marian Weber. With the 1:1, it went into the break. Immediately after the restart, the guests had the better start and turned the game: Josip Majic put it in minute 50 on 1:2. The home team searched patiently for the way back, came through standards and a lot of ball possession, but long without the big chances. Only in the final phase did it pay off: Marcel Juen scored in the 80th minute for the deserved 2:2, which put the final point under a fiercely contested second half. Florian Köll drew a clear picture of the game after the final whistle. "We were in possession of the ball and had the better scoring opportunities, so the 1:0 was deserved," he said. What his eleven lost in the process was effectiveness – and a delicate phase around the opposing goals: "From small things, the equalizer was scored, and the early 1:2 after the break put the opponent in the cards." His team remained on the ball, but rarely found clear finishes: "We had good standard situations and many opportunities, but not all too many compelling chances." That the equalizer came late changed the goal setting in the finish: "We were then busy equalizing and were satisfied with the draw in the end. I still think we were closer to the win – without the unfortunate course, we would have won the game." Köll highlighted an important building block: the maturity of a very young team. "For that, we played with very, very many young players, partly from the U16, the coordination and the game have been very good," said the coach and added: "We would have deserved the win." The view on the opponent was also objective: "Hatting-Pettnau played as expected – they gave us the ball and pressed from the middle line." There was no reason for debate about the referee: "There were no contentious scenes, I have nothing to say." In the table, WSG Tirol 1c holds 41 points after 25 rounds in sixth place, Hatting-Pettnau with 37 points in eighth place. With the morale after the late equalizer and the courage of the young, WSG will tackle the remaining tasks confidently and secure sixth place.
